Knik
The "knik" wind is also called: matanuska, pruga, stikine, takn, take, turnagain, williwaw. This wind develops because of cold air moving down high mountanious areas. They can blow over 110 kph (70mph). They occur all over the world, such as the region Patagonia, off the coast of Tierra del Fuego right down to the Falkland Islands. They are also called Alaskan wind, since they also occur in the vicinity of Palmer, Alaska, where they are most frequent in the winter.
